Key New Drug Approvals
Isembyld (apitegromab-mstn)
Approval Date: 09/11/2026
Cost*: ~$37,900 per month
Key Considerations:
- New treatment for spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) in adults and children 2 years and older who are currently receiving a survival motor neuron 2-targeted therapy.
- Administered by IV infusion every 4 weeks.
- At parity with existing SMA therapies (Zolgensma®, Itvisma®, Spinraza® and Evrysdi®), with no clear advantage in efficacy or safety.
LucyRx Perspective: With an annual cost of approximately $454,700 and no clear advantage over existing SMA therapies, Isembyld is a candidate for utilization management, including prior authorization and step therapy, to help ensure appropriate use.
Atebrioz (zilurgisertib)
Approval Date: 09/25/2026
Cost*: ~$42,480 per month
Key Considerations:
- Once-daily oral ALK2 inhibitor for fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva (FOP), a rare genetic disorder, in patients 12 years and older.
- Third agent approved for FOP, following Pasatru® (garetosmab-grts) and Sohonos® (palovarotene), with a unique mechanism of action.
LucyRx Perspective: Atebrioz adds a third, oral option for an ultra-rare condition, and pricing will be important to monitor once it is announced, along with specialty management, prior authorization, and quantity limits as it enters the market.
Etcamah (camizestrant)
Approval Date: 09/04/2026
Cost*: ~$20,800 per month
Key Considerations:
- Oral estrogen receptor antagonist (75 mg once daily) used with a CDK4/6 inhibitor for adults with HR-positive, HER2-negative locally advanced or metastatic breast cancer when an ESR1 mutation is detected during aromatase inhibitor and CDK4/6 inhibitor therapy
- Replaces the aromatase inhibitor while the CDK4/6 inhibitor continues, enabling an ESR1-guided treatment switch before disease progression
- Carries a Boxed Warning for serious heart rhythm problems when used with ribociclib or other drugs that prolong the heart’s electrical recovery time
LucyRx Perspective: Etcamah introduces a new biomarker-guided treatment option in a disease state with significant treatment needs. By targeting the estrogen receptor, Etcamah reduces estrogen-dependent signaling that promotes breast cancer cell growth and allows treatment to be adjusted when an ESR1 mutation is detected.
