LucyRx Chief Commercial Officer Susan Thomas recently authored an article for Pharmaceutical Executive about why human connection is essential in an increasingly complicated prescription care landscape.
In her article, Susan discusses how a lack of clinical guidance and education harms patients, from poor medication adherence to adverse drug effects. She shares that pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) can help prevent these negative outcomes through human-centered care that includes personalized, one-on-one counseling and clinical support for patients.
“The risk we run when we don’t give patients guidance is clear. If they can’t afford their medications, they won’t take them. If support is outsourced and ‘non-clinical,’ patients lose trust and stop treatment. No member should navigate treatment alone, and clinical support makes sure they don’t have to,” she wrote.
Susan proceeds to detail the value of offering clinical navigation and support for members, including providing a seamless path from prescription to pick up, empowering cost-smart decisions, and ensuring therapy stays on track.
“No patient should navigate this alone. Let’s make prescription care unmistakably human and hold PBMs, including us, accountable for it,” Susan wrote.
