The first part of the interview, “How Innovation is at the Heart of Independent PBM LucyRx,” focused on how LucyRx’s independence, transparency, smarter technology, and people-first commitment distinguish it from the Big 3 PBMs.
“LucyRx came about because of a very simple observation: The delivery of prescription care in this country is broken,” David told Drug Topics.
David shared the ways LucyRx empowers employers, consultants, and third-party administrators to overcome financial challenges in the second part of the interview: “Frustration in Community Pharmacy Highlights Tainted Benefits System.”
“We’re going from a $500 billion spend as a country to a trillion dollars over the next six or seven years, and we can’t afford it. My hope is that companies like LucyRx will really reinvent the way pharmacy is delivered,” David said.
Pharmacists are among the most accessible and trusted healthcare professionals, yet they remain underutilized due to outdated regulations and declining reimbursement. In the third part of the interview, “LucyRx’s Role in Supporting the Pharmacist Profession,” David dived into why pharmacists are essential to the future of prescription care, how LucyRx is addressing pharmacy deserts, and what it means to pay pharmacies differently.
“We need to do a better job leveraging pharmacists’ experience because they’re a trusted resource,” David said. “Particularly, when you start thinking about the shortage in primary care physicians that we’re facing as a country, we need to benefit from what a pharmacist can offer.”
